In 1960, the United Bible Societies with the sponsorship of the British and Foreign Bible Society and the American Bible Society published the popular revision of the Version Reina-Valera. This version has been the basic text of the Spanish Protestant Church for generations. It is the most beloved translation of Spanish speaking Christians as it retains the traditional beauty of the Spanish language.

After many years of using the King James Version and other standard resources in E-sword, I am now ministering in Spanish. Since our church uses the RVR 1960, I was constantly limited by only having the 1909 version on E-sword. I finally went ahead and bought the 1960, and I'm very glad I did. It has been a great help.

I even set the 365 day e-reading plan and want to follow through this year as opposed to the paper reading plan that I have not been able to complete within the whole year. To sum up, I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Reviewed by (Bruce Hollenbach, San Manuel, AZ, US) - With all of the editions that the ancient translation by Casiodoro de Reina(1959)has undergone, including more recent ones, it remains a mystery to me why the evangelical community in Latin America has landed upon this particular one as the one to have. But this is definitely the one that you have to have if you are going to be fully accepted in any evangelical worshipping community, at least in Mexico, and I assume in the rest of Latin America as well. No problem really, since it is a fine translation, although not of a critical Greek text, and it is generally understandable, like the King James in English, for those who have grown up with it or at least are native speakers of Spanish and willing to look up a few words that they won't hear in other contexts. For those who are learning Spanish as a second language, there are better choices out there, but, sadly, these are precisely the people who will depend upon carrying the RV 1960 as a badge of their membership and a guarantee that they are reading "La Palabra Dios" and not some false pretender.

Desafortunadamente no tiene letras rojas, pero en general bien, en e-sword con su versatilidad de comparacion tan facil entre versiones es muy conveniente, ademas es de menor precio que en otros programas, donde esta en 20 USD. Aunque hay programas donde se puede tener RVR60 sin costo, en e-sword se conjuntan varios recursos muy utiles y bien pensados.

How stressfull can that be?
I'm a hispanic pastor with a congregation in Houston Texas, who also holds a full time job, so time is everything to me.
With e-Sword and my Spanish Reina Valera 1960 module my sermon preparation is less stressfull since now that I have Dictionaries, Commnetaries, diferent bible versions etc. at my finger tip.
e-Sword is a great tool for bivocational ministers.

First off, electronics baffle me. So, computers many times are a frustration to me. I recently purchased the ESword. I am pleased with the whole of the products so far. My only "regret" is that the words of Christ are not in red in the Reina Valera 1960. I can put it into parallel, but then cannot underline or highlight. Perhaps it is because I have not learned how to use ESword effectively thus far. I haven't had the time to go through very far into the Users Guide. Thank you,for still keeping the 1960 among the choices for ESword.

Being an Englishman living in a Spanish speaking country I have found E-sword very helpful especially because of the ability to have 4 different versions showing at the same time. Usually I have 2 English and 2 Spanish up at the same time at our Bible Study session. The 1960 Spanish Reina Valera is very handy as this is the most used here. By being able to have the two languages up at the same time helps me to be able to quickly see exactly what a verse is saying where I am not able to fully understand the Spanish meaning. It is Amazing how it makes you think more about the meaning of verses seeing it in 4 different versions/languages. Many thanks for this wonderfull program very easy to use

I can find the scriptures I need in English and then change to the Spanish translation and print out the scriptures in Spanish--So I can actually design tracts of my own using this marvelous tool!! Here in Honduras where we are missionaries, the Reina Valera 1960 is the only version people use to read at church because nearly everyone uses it. Many people do not have a lot of education and get confused when someone is reading from a different version. I would study using E-Sword but then I would need to type the 1960 version into my teaching or preaching notes. It's so handy to have it there as one of my Spanish versions. I like having different Spanish translations to study, but at the end of the day, this version is essential to have a complete study program in Spanish for use in Honduras. Thank you for making it available.
