Very Practical and Understandable, Very Useful (7/22/2023)
Reviewed by (Van White, Newport News, VA, US) - After comparing a half dozen commentaries at a local Bible college library for my sermon project in 1 John 2, the sister New Testament commentary stood out to me as being very helpful and readable. In fact, I had made a photocopy of a few pages and I wrote on the top, "I really like this guy!" Then, I found that set of NT commentaries on ESS. Since it was a big investment for me, I first asked my professor of the preaching class if he recommended these commentaries. He did. Therefore, for my class sermon, this commentary was the main one I used. Finally, I decided to also purchase the present OT set, assuming it would be just as useful as the NT set. I look forward to using it a lot! Helpful hint... First get the free sample of this commentary. Then ESS will send you an email in a couple of weeks offering you a discounted price. I did that.
One of the top series available (5/4/2022)
Reviewed by (BRUCE LANGDON, HAMPTON, NB, Canada) - When you check many of the lists for recommended commentaries, almost all will contain one from the NICOT on their lists. Well respected pastors and theologians use these often for their reference work. These are not devotional, but if you are interested in the exposition of scripture then this an excellent series. The price point for this series is an absolute bargain. Logos software sells the 28 volume for roughly $1500 CAD. This was an easy purchase for me as I am currently going through the book of Proverbs and needed to purchase several commentaries. The price for the 2 volumes of the NICOT in Logos almost covered the price of all 28 volumes from eStudySource. Granted, it is not as integrated as when using Logos, having it beside my laptop on iPad is still pretty good.

NICOT excellent value (1/12/2021)
Reviewed by (Terence Clarke, Sandy, Bedfordshire, UK) - This series (NICOT) purchased together with NICNT at about £150 was excellent value when compared with probably well over £1000 for the hard copies. Although I would probably have preferred the hard copies but the cost, not to mention shelf space, would have been prohibitive. I have only used Hebrews so far but it works well and connects to the eSword scripture text accurately. I already have a number of hard copies of both NICNT and NICOT and find them very useful and comprehensive. Altogether a good deal.

A most helpful study aid deserving of inclusion in any basic bible reference set. A powerful tool for the e-Sword kit.
I downloaded quite a few of the premium bibles, dictionaries, commentaries and map-charts recently, including some sets. It will take time for me to assess most of them, but this particular help was useful "right out of the box."
Thank you, e-Sword and eStudySource for all you who put the excellence in e-Sword.

Exceptional Value Pastoral Commentary (10/19/2019)
Reviewed by (Ken Yeo, Orlando, FL, US) - I was comtemplating whether I should use Esword or Logos as my primary sermon prepartion tool. This NIC OT and NC commentaries are one of the major reasons why I decided to use Esword. This is a quality pastoral commentary set, from evengelical perspective, with a fraction of the cost in comparison to logos. I like the commentary layout, the main body is easy to read and not too techinical in original languages. However if I want to know more, the references in the brackets in the body of the commentary are handy. While there are free older commentaries on Esword, they are normally using older english and the layout in esword is often hard to follow. Many of these commentaries are a collections of many preachers and commentators, so there is lack of cohesion of the flow of the commentary. NIC OT and NT commentaries make my Esword a better tool. It makes me feel good that although Esword is free, this commentary increase the value of Esword tremendously. Highly recommended.

The greatest asset is it's free. Donations are accepted but not required. This has been a blessing because at times finances were tight for some of us pastors in small churches. Thank You e-Sword for your Faithful ministry in supplying these needed resources to us servants of the Lord.Your reward will be from the Lord Jesus when He says Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant, Enter into the Joy of the Lord. A Great Deal! (2/9/2017)
Reviewed by (Keith Throop, Bloomington, IL, United States) - As a rule I prefer not to buy commentary sets, especially by multiple authors, since the work is generally inconsistent and one ends up with a number of good volumes mixed in with bad ones. The NICOT is an exception, as is the NICNT. thankfully, both sets are offered by eStudySource, and both sets are worth the price, especially the terrific prices offered here. No e-Sword user should pass them up.

Worth your investment (12/23/2016)

With this offer, I can appreciate how solid and scholarly the commentaries are written, and gives a deeper insight on the verses that I am studying, even on a tight budget.
I am now more inspired to study and learn about what God wants to reveal to me by His words, and these commentaries (NICOT and NICNT) surely is a wonderful tool to help me on my journey.
