ANSWERS TO YOUR TOUGHEST BIBLE QUESTIONS!

Are you grappling with a difficult verse in the Bible? And are you looking for a short, easy-to-read answer that really makes sense without explaining away the verse? Hard Sayings of the Bible is the resource you need. Here you will find explanations of over 500 of the most troubling verses that test the minds and hearts of Bible readers. Four seasoned scholars, all with a notable gift for communicating with people in the pew, take you behind the scenes to find succinct solutions to a wide variety of Bible difficulties, ranging from discrepancies about numbers to questions about God's justice. Historical, cultural and linguistic backgrounds shed light on these passages and not only help explain what they meant in biblical times but also show how they are relevant today.

Now carefully cross-referenced with over 100 new verses explained, as well as a dozen new introductory articles on chronology, miracles, archaeology, prophecy and more, Hard Sayings of the Bible offers the combined resources of five previous volumes that have over 250,000 copies in print. If you find yourself tied up in scriptural knots, here's the book that will help you cut through them.

disappointed (8/7/2016)
Reviewed by (Doyle Redwine, DeFuniak Springs, FL, US) - Somewhat disappointed in this book. I was expecting more scholarly insight than what seemed like obvious opinions on some of the passages covered. Possibly was hoping for some explanations into some of the insights overlooked, missed, or that don't translate well in the translation from the original languages, or more cultural insights into the time and place understood by the new testament writers that are easily overlooked, etc... So far I have found little of value in my exposition of the scripture to my congregation. I will update if I find there is more helpful info as I continue to look at it.Sorry

Really love- so far... (10/20/2015)
Reviewed by (bruce parkison, salinas, ca, US) - I've only had it for a short time. I was wondering how good it was so I tried it out on Gen 6:1-4. I thought it covered all the viewpoints I had heard quite well, and feel I now understand with some new insight. Also- After reading everything it had to say about 1 John, I feel a deeper understanding of the struggle I still have with sin. From what I've read so far, I'm confident that I have a valuable addition to my library that will be seeing frequent use.

Serious & Thorough (7/18/2012)
Reviewed by (Niek Mostert, Brakpan, Gauteng, South Africa) - 1. Shows a definite respect for the Bible as the inspired, infallibable, incurrupted Word of God, as the words of an unchanging God, although man to whom it is addressed, changes every now and then. 2. Balanced point of view, but free from the questioning, post-modernistic, reletivistic and confusing veiw of Bible interpretation. 3. A serious and thourgh attempt to instruct the reader how to improve his/her under-standing of the Bible for the benifit of personal growth in his/her faith. 4. An honest attempt to help solve some of the serious theological and ethical questions of today.

Informative information (2/28/2012)
Reviewed by (Dorothy Winters, Kennedale, Texas, US) - The book is organized in easy to find order. The Contents page lists questions most of us would like to ask. The answers can be found in the book. I have the hardback book in the church library, but for me, it is easier to open E-Sword, scoot to References, open Hard Sayings of The Bible and find the answer which can be copied onto my software program as I prepare Sunday's lesson.

Disappointing (9/7/2011)
Reviewed by (Chris Frase, Linden, TN, US) - My initial reaction to the "Hard sayings of the Bible" is simply I'm disappointed in it. While there may be some value I don't believe it will be something I view or study often. It is not put together in a manner that makes for easily finding what I want, in my opinion.

Very Helpful! (8/6/2011)
Reviewed by (Stephen Awl, Hickory, NC, US) -

I first read this series in paperback many years ago and since that time these books have never stayed on my shelf for long. I am always referring back to them during Bible studies. I'm so glad they have expanded and put them together in this format so I have quicker access through e-Sword. The only thing that would improve this series is to continue expanding it to include more scriptures.
